Squeri of Burano ("boatyards")

Squeri was and are the small boatyards of Burano, where only few kinds of fishing boats, like "bragossi" and "sandali", were made.

Later, since Burano inhabitants were in need of move themselves to Venice and the other islands for selling, they created "caorline", "battelle" and "cofani": these were faster boats.

But they were in need of big boats, too. So they crated "burci" and "babbee": the first ones were used to transport merchandise, the sencond ones for fishing outside the lagoon.
