About In Piazzetta
Since 2011 In Piazzetta is a typical Burano's lace shop, located near the San Martino Vescovo church, right in heart of the island.
It offers an outside exposure with scarfs and clothes for all the occasions, but it's inside the shop where you can see the real treasure.
At the entrance you'll surely be impressed by a small space reserved to cerimony clothes and children's lace wear.
Going on you'll meet the gentle shop owner, Rosanna who will show you the various needle creations, both in an ancient and in a modern style, typical of the island and made using various techniques of manufacturing, applied on centrepieces and tableclothes.
In the shop is present also a wall covered of venetian masks, maybe the real buttonhole of the shop:
typical masks of the venice carnival, but with hundreds of colors in Burano's style, made by esclusive local artists using various shapes and materials, including papier-mâché, ceramic, artificial resin and metal;
some are splendid because of their simplicity while others, including feathers and swarovski, are more refined.
Inside you can look at the small exposure of jewelry made by Rosanna using needle and crystals, glass and beads coming from the near island of Murano. In Piazzetta, a little shop to discover little by little.
